FAQs
General Performance Herts Questions
Q: Is Performance Herts Gym just for University of Hertfordshire students to use?
A: The PH Gym is an all-inclusive facility which is open for students, staff and the wider community. Everyone can access our facilities and services on a membership or pay-as-you-go 1:1 basis, or through clubs linked to the gym.
Q: Do you have to be a member of the PH Gym to use the facilities?
A: We ask athletes to become a member of PH so we can book in any screenings or 1:1 sessions, and charge to your accounts accordingly.
Q: Is the PH Gym accessible
A: Yes, we cater for all abilities. We have several para-athletes who train regularly in our gym.
Q: How much does it cost to use PH Gym?
A: We have various options, from HTAP membership, to private 1:1’s and group sessions. Please see our website for further information.
Q: How do I book onto the drop ins or any 1:1 sessions?
A: Our timetable is online and runs 3 weeks ahead. You can book onto the drop in sessions in advance via your online account up to 7 days beforehand. To book any 1:1’s just email Performance Herts and we will liaise with you to find a suitable time for both yourself and our coaches.
HTAP Specific Questions
Q: Can parents use the facilities whilst their child is using the PH gym?
A: At Performance Herts, we offer parents/guardians the opportunity to have an Annual HSV membership for free (usually costs £45), this enables parents to prebook in advance any classes or courts, at discounted membership prices.
Q: Will my child be safe in the gym?
A: Our main coaches are all UKSCA accredited. All our staff meet the minimum requirements, hold Safeguarding qualifications and either hold or are working towards S&C coaching certificates.
Q: Why do we need to complete all the online forms?
A: We ask for the athletes sporting history so we can adequately tailor any programme to their needs, be aware of past injury history, and know the goals they are working towards. Our PAR-Q form gives us the medical history of our athletes so we can assist them correctly should anything happen under our care, and a parent/guardian is not immediately contactable.
Q: What is the difference between the PH Gym and the main gym at HSV?
A: The Performance Herts gym is specifically aimed at Strength & Conditioning. We have testing facilities and can create programmes tailor made to the elite athlete’s needs and sporting requirements to assist with their aims and goals.
